Hello all you black powder enthusiasts
Spring is upon us and has not been pulling any punches in the rainfall department. During our annual spring rendezvous there was 4”-6” of rain recorded in a 12 hour timeframe! The monsoon did not dampen any camping spirits though as we had 8 camps and 10 people. We got most of the woodswalk shoot in before the rain intensified beyond making a flintlock perform well. Rob Krueger won the split the kettle drawing and Rich Lambert won the camp prize drawing. Lee Henning took first place on the woodswalk hitting 10 out of the 11 targets we shot at. Pat Iffland would like to thank all those who camped plus everyone who volunteered at the pre rendezvous work party. Ken Murphy, Lee Henning, Mike Finnegan and Rich Lambert. We got a new roof put on the old outhouse, the firewood stacked and covered and the old firewood rack broken apart and cleaned up. Ken Murphy has plans to build another rack out some exsisting materials that are at the club. Pat Would also like to thank Rob Krueger for getting and delivering firewood, plus the repair and manufacture of the woodswalk targets.
It was voted upon and accepted to instate a lost gate key replacement fee of $20 as the keys have become quite expensive.
The 50/50 raffle held during the April shoot was rather successful. It was decided that the acting range officers for each months shoot will have discretion to run the 50/50 if they want to. Tickets are $5 a piece and will be sold through the target window, The raffle tickets are inside the white target cabinet and if it’s decided to be ran the announcement can be made during that mornings safety talk.
Our rangemaster Tony Borello would like to have a work party on June 3rd @ 9am. Perspective projects are to finish painting the clubhouse interior and to reapply stain to the exterior also to clear away the brush that has grown up around the 25 and 50 yard shooting berms.
A list of range & safety rules has been compiled and will be post inside and outside the clubhouse along with copies being handed out to all members.
There were some proposed changes to our constitution that were voted on during the clubs May meeting. The proposed bi-monthly meeting schedule was voted down. The inclusion of a published agenda from each months meeting was voted yes and the rewording of the clubs purpose in our constitution was voted yes.
The agenda for the June 5th meeting will include a vote to change the wording in the membership section of our constitution and a vote to purchase some railroad ties to replace the rotted ones in the firing line.
All members currently seeking to upgrade their membership to full are required to attend two meetings on the Troy sportsmans club side, the first is to be presented to their membership and the second is for them to vote you in. they have graciously lowered the initiation fee to $150 (half price) for the seven members we need to fufill our 20 member requirement. The next Troy meeting will be on May 17th at 7:30pm in their clubhouse.
During our monthly meeting and as per roberts rules of order. When someone has the floor making a comment, question or suggestion anyone else who may want to include their ideas to the subject will raise their hand to be called on then any questions or comments will be directed at the acting president who will decide on how to answer any concerns. remember guys this is just supposed to be a hobby and there is NO CALL for going after each others throats. Thank you.
The May Mother’s Day shoot could’nt have asked for better weather with a nice breeze and temperatures near the 80’s. a thank you goes out to Range Officers Beverly Decman and Larry Suligoy and to Curtis Capsel for providing lunch.
The June 11th shoot’s range officers are Ken Papesh and Curtis Capsel with Jim Flannery on lunch detail.
Unitl our paths cross again keep yer powder dry and shoot sharps the word. Whiskey Jim
