We are a not-for-profit organization, chartered by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.. Full membership entails joining Troy Sportsman’s Club as Joliet muzzle Loaders is a club within a club. The Troy Sportsman’s Club offers nice grounds, a fine club house, a trap range, playground for children, fishing, sites for camping and RV’s as well as family and social activities.

As our name implies, we are a strictly Muzzle Loading Club, and due to insurance restrictions, absolutely no cartridge guns will be tolerated on club property. Also, only tent camping is permitted on JML grounds.

Our regular meetings are held on Troy Sportsman’s club grounds on the first Monday after the first Sunday of each month.

Our regular shoots are held at our Don Freckelton Range on the second Sunday of each month, and are open to the public.

Members and visitors alike are required to strictly adhere to standard safety procedures and range practices and governed by them at all times. Failure to comply with the directions of the Range Officer –or- disregard for the safety of oneself or others will result in ejection from club property.

Prospective members must attend at least two shoots where they actively participate in shooting ( this is to ensure that shooters are safe and familiar with the range rules.). They must be sponsored by two full voting members and if an Illinois resident, possess a valid FOID.

New members are on one year probation from the date of membership, must fulfill work requirements-duty, and must attend (4) four meetings or shoots ( or any combination thereof).

Every member is required to perform two work days for the club each year. There are several ways to satisfy this requirement. An assessment of $100.00 will be charged those members not putting in their work days(-medical exclusions accepted).
