January 2022 Newsletter

Fellow Muzzle loaders:

Check your email inbox. Membership chairman Mike Priesbe has sent out the 2022 renewal forms. Please print out, complete, and get them to Mike, by mail, at a shoot or meeting, before the date on the form. If you don't have access to a printer, paper forms are available.

The January meeting was canceled due to weather.

The January shoot was canceled due to cold and icy conditions. People, including your editor have bounced their vehicle off the farmer's barbed wire fence on our road, the evidence is on my hood, and we don't need any more of that, or worse. The gate locks were probably frozen solid. 'nuff said. Our range officers and food provider get the customary work party credit. Thanks Mike Priesbe, Curtiss Capsell, and Larry Suligoy, for signing up. Larry had the food in preparation when we decided to call off the shoot, so Larry, we hope you like potato salad.

This 'n That, Hangfires:

We have range officers for February, Lee Henning and Pat Iffland. Need food. Please sign up early for this year's range duty and save your officers some headaches.

Taking the Bull by the Horns: Our new treasurer, Scott Sheets, has offered to take on the job of updating our website. Webmaster Mike Karcz will assist.

We need to restart our phone tree so everyone is aware of a meeting or shoot cancellation. Let me know if you can handle part of it.

Bev Decman will engrave club shoot winner Larry Suligoy's name on our trophy. Thanks Bev.

Rangemaster Tony has winterized the mowers.

Ideas are welcome for this year's Club Trophy Shoot. We haven't been doing much at 100 yds. lately. Just a thought.

Last man out of the range, make sure the clubhouse is buttoned up. Members, please don't leave any trash behind.

Bedrock member Paul Alphin is home, gaining strength from a four way heart bypass. He was recovering from abdominal surgery when the heart problem was diagnosed. Paul is tough as nails. I spoke with him and he said it's going to take some time, but he will be back. Paul, we know that and wish you the best.

Larry Goggins has been around as long as Paul and will be undergoing rectal cancer surgery this month. He said the prognosis is very good. Larry, you've been under the knife a few times in the recent past for orthopedic stuff. We wish you well, and hope to see you and your family out to rendezvous before long.

Larry's son Pat, a long time Troy camper, rendezvouser, and just getting into club shooting activities has spent the last four months in the hospital with Covid complications.

I hear he is back on his feet and should be going home soon. I can only imagine what a relief that will be.

Everett Andrus has undergone successful back surgery.

The members are the club, and when one is down, we're all hurting. So count your blessings and wish our friends the best.

Daylight hours are increasing, so spring can't be far away.

Keep a sharp eye and a steady hand.
